One date from your vet turns into everything that follows — breeding days, the scan window, the box, the radiograph, temperature checks and the due date.
One anchor: ovulation
Gestation is 63 days from ovulation, not from the tie. Your vet identifies ovulation from the progesterone curve and tells you the day, so that is the only date this tool asks for.
Counting from the mating instead can be a week out, because a bitch may accept a male from eleven days before ovulation to eight days after.
Every date, and what it is for
| Day | Milestone | What it is for |
|---|---|---|
| 1 and 3 | Breed — natural or fresh | Two matings across the fertile window |
| 2 and 4 | Breed — chilled | Two inseminations across the fertile window |
| 3 | Breed — frozen | One insemination, placed close to the eggs |
| 25 to 30 | Scan | Is she pregnant, and are they viable |
| 45 | Box in | She needs two weeks to accept it as hers |
| 55 | Radiograph | The count you order supplies against |
| 58 | Temp checks | A drop precedes labor by about a day |
| 63 | Due | 63 days from ovulation, give or take two |
| 66 | Worth calling your vet | Nothing by now is a conversation, not a wait |
Eggs are released immature and need about 48 hours to ripen. That’s why the best days are after ovulation, not on it.

Gestation counts from ovulation, and every milestone is a day offset from it. Her vet reads it off the progesterone results, so she enters the answer rather than the working.
No. A bitch may accept a male from eleven days before ovulation to eight days after, so counting from the mating can be a week out. Ask your vet for the ovulation date.
Values are analyzer-dependent and point-of-care machines read higher than lab assays. Your vet's read is the one that counts, so typing the numbers in again would produce nothing new.
It is 63 days from ovulation, give or take two. Labor arrives when she is ready — the date is an expectation, not an appointment.
